Your data on this website
- No cookies, no analytics and no advertising services.
- Everything comes from amtsbrief.app – no fonts or scripts from other servers.
- Light/dark mode and your language choice are only stored on your device.
- The website runs via Cloudflare. Technically necessary data such as your IP address is processed for this.
- If you write to us, we only use your message to reply.
Your data in the app (beta)
- The app runs on Google Cloud in the Frankfurt data centre (Germany). Cloudflare protects the website and the app. Your IP address is processed for this.
- Our server does not keep access logs with IP addresses. Error logs contain no letter content.
- To read and explain your letter, we send the images of your letter to an AI service. In the beta this is Anthropic. Processing takes place in the USA, covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Anthropic may not use your letters to train AI. According to Anthropic, it deletes the data within 30 days. We plan to switch to processing in the EU.
- Letters can contain health data, for example doctors’ letters. That is why we ask for your permission with a separate checkbox before the first explanation. You can withdraw it at any time in the settings.
- For an account we need: first name, last name, date of birth (16 or older), country, nationality, language and email. Signing in with Google is optional. Without an account you can use Amtsbrief as a guest.
- Your letters are stored encrypted and deleted automatically after the period you choose (default: 30 days). You can delete any letter and your account immediately at any time.
- We make encrypted backups. Deleted data can remain in them for up to 8 weeks.
Explanations by AI
The explanations are written by an AI. They can contain mistakes and are not legal or medical advice. Check deadlines and amounts in the original letter – you are responsible for your deadlines. The app makes no decisions about you.
Beta: free, with limits
Amtsbrief is a beta. Features can change, and the app is not always available. Use is free. As a guest you can have 3 letters explained in 30 days, with an account 10 letters per month. Only upload your own letters or letters you have permission for.
No advertising, no selling
No advertising, no tracking. We do not sell data. We do not pass it on to authorities or other people – unless a law requires it. Google, Cloudflare and Anthropic only work on our behalf.
Your rights
You can ask which data we have about you. You can have it corrected or deleted. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde).
